European Virtual Integrated Laboratory for Large-scale Applications in a Geographically distributed Environment

bar.jpg

Village.jpgWe aim at an integration of diverse computational tools at the protocol/software level, and the sharing of local computational resources that will be merged into a grid devoted to computational life materials, and environmental sciences. The participants are experts in a wide range of theoretical approaches and computational techniques, all focussed on the interpretation, simulation, characterization and rationalization of systems and processes of interest in materials science at several length (from macro to nanoscale) and time (from femto- to milliseconds) scales. The primary objective for the constitution of an European-wide Virtual Integrated Laboratory For Large-scale Applications in a Geographically-distributed Environment devoted to materials science (EU-VILLAGE for materials) is to exploit the capabilities of distributed computer power for in silico description of soft- and hard matter combining applications based on quantum mechanical methods, statistical/stochastic approaches, and analytical techniques in order to develop an integrated software for the multiscale description of complex materials working in grid environments.
